  • I found a kinda cheap electric skillet at Amazon/Target for about $35. I got the idea from Alton last night with his poaching. I know we’ve made a lot of purchases recently, but its one of those things we’ve been saying we’d like to get. Maybe one will hope down the bunny trail for Easter.
  • Update: I found a cheaper skillet @ Target for $20. I’m trying to find some more info on it. Mainly I want to make sure that it has a tempature setting and not 1,2,3.

Notes:

  • Last night was the first full night of sleep I’ve had in a week. I think its the extra calories I had yesterday. Jade summed up yesterday nicely for us.

  • Brewed tea is so good. Thanks dear!
  • My pouch cooking was good but I need to make sure the meat is completely thawed and use more spices. My spices are getting old which is kinda good in that I have to use more which makes it easier to get rid of them.

Tuesday Night's Dinner Plans

If you’re following this blog you saw that I posted a chart about pouch cooking. Here’s my plans for tonight:

Jade Me
1 Chicken Breast Ditto
SNOW PEAS Ditto
Yuck, no. Mushrooms
Shredded Potatoes Ditto
CELERY Ditto
ONION Ditto
Chipolte Ditto
Rosemary Ditto
PARSLEY Ditto
CHICKEN STOCK Ditto
WHITE WINE Ditto
Olive Oil or Safflower Ditto

I’m a little divided on whether to use Extra Virgin Olive Oil or something else. The olive oil will add more aromatics but because I’ll be cooking it at 400 degrees and thats way beyond it flash point. That means it could burn easily and leave a nasty taste.

Weight In: 452 lbs!!

Notes:

  • Jade and I beginning to think that something is wrong with our new scale. Its very unlikely for us both to gain weight, especially 4 lbs, in one day. Especially when you eaten around 1200 calories for last week. Maybe the beef had some lead in it or something. Guess we’ll have chicken tonight.

  • This new yogurt isn’t anything special. Its sweetened with saccharine and raspberry isn’t my favorite flavor. Hopefully the other flavors will be better. Hey Jade, if you get on today, can you leave which brand it was that we bought.
  • I made some upgrades yesterday including tagging and comments. I really like Chyrp and I can’t wait until they release 1.04 comes out so I can get some of the new features in the source tree.
  • I tried the Lean Cuisine - Garlic Beef and Broccoli. I can see why its being discontinued. Its not bad, don’t get wrong. Its just not great. You would think for something that had garlic in it, it would have a stronger flavor. I thing they need to add a little more salt and stronger stock base for the gravy.
